Ciara & Caoimhe

Hi Rachel, Suzanne & Ciara,

My little superstar Caoimhe, is two weeks old today and it’s taken me this long to get around to writing her story down. All in all she seems to be a much happier baby than Sorcha was and is sleeping lots so much more relaxed mom and baby this time around. Sorcha adores her too so all good on that front!

On Monday 28th at the 5.30 class Suzanne had the joyful task of calming me down, I was 11 days over at that point and not looking forward to being induced on the Thursday – as I thought…… Suzanne, your words of wisdom must have worked as by Monday night I was far calmer and resigned to whatever was going to happen. On Tuesday morning went to the loo at 5.30 and when I got back to bed I thought I was leaking a little, to be on the safe side I decided to put on a maternity pad and as soon as I had reached for them my waters broke all over the carpet – under normal circumstances I would have been horrified but I was like a child on Christmas morning as hospital induction was about to be avoided :). I had very few pains at that point so showered, had brekkie and got to Holles st around 8.

They brought me straight to the delivery room as the contractions tohen were only about 90 seconds apart. Using the ball and leaning on the bed  worked well until 9.30 and I had my own bathroom where I could use the shower which helped too. From 9.30 to 11 the contractions were intense and I did think I might die a few times – forgetting again to use gas and air…. The hypnobirthing affirmations calmed me down when I was about to lose it a few times. Once I was fully dialated I gave birth on my hands and knees and I was the first one to hold my little girl as I caught her on the way out, it was a truly powerful experience.

Thanks for all your help ladies, Rachel especially, your advice and knowledge with my SPD.  Yoga kept me strong enough to deliver my baby naturally and keep a positive frame of mind throughout my pregnancy and birth.

Lots of love and hope to see you soon
